I am a licensed psychotherapist, with training in psychoanalysis, psychodynamic, and relational theory. I encourage you to speak freely about your desires and fears, so you can identify feelings and thoughts that you’ve pushed out of conscious awareness. As unconscious thoughts become conscious, you are better equipped to integrate new ways of being, instead of remaining stuck in habitual ones.

As we uncover early-life experiences, traumatic events, stuck points, relationship turmoil, and/or complex family dynamics that have plagued your life journey. We will speak of them intellectually with the intention of unraveling them emotionally in efforts to gain insight into your perspective of the world and present-day patterns.

The compulsion to repeat old behaviors is human nature as unpleasant and frustrating as it is to watch yourself repeat them. It will be our journey together that will pave the way for a shift in the compulsion to repeat and allow for new patterns to be formed. Through self-discovery, we will take curative steps ahead, that will align with a true self, the person you were inherently born to be.

I specialize in accompanying my patients through major life transitions:

History of trauma or a traumatic experience Existential self-questioning about who you are or where your life is going Complex family dynamics Treatment resistance depression & anxiety Relationship challenges (affairs, divorce, marital conflict) Sudden-onset illness Loss and grief Parenting challenges Pregnancy Loss and Infertility If you are interested in learning more about Psychedelic Integration with Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, click here for detailed information.

I am curious about your story, your experiences, and what brings you to therapy. In our work together we explore your lived experiences through story. Your stories help us understand “the problem” in unique and remarkable ways. We collaborate to identify skills, values, and beliefs that will assist in developing a new perspective to the problem. In the words of Narrative Therapy’s founders, “the problem is the problem, not the person.”

Problems can come in many forms, such as uncomfortable emotions and feelings, difficult life transitions, and relationship struggles. We explore the problem together in a gentle, non-blaming, and respectful manner. We then work together to reconstruct the stories which can change your relationship with the problem. This approach is primary rooted in narrative therapy, which uses storytelling and collaboration as keys to achieving therapeutic change.

Another aspect to working with me is experiencing my loving therapy dogs Oliver, a Labrador Retriever, and Emma a Miniature Dachshund, virtually or in person. Their involvement in the therapy is elective. Bringing therapy dogs into therapeutic work offers another opportunity to experience acceptance and support.

My practice experience spans 20 years. I earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from Chestnut Hill College where I received specialized training in family therapy as well as psychodynamic theories and practice. I have a master’s degree in counseling psychology from New York University where I was trained in psychoanalysis. As well as a Diploma in Counseling from the Australian College of Applied Psychology where I was introduced to narrative therapy techniques and philosophies. In addition, I incorporate therapy dogs into my practice, using Animal Assisted Therapy (AAI). I have integrated my training in narrative therapy, psychodynamic perspectives, family systems therapy, and AAI to create a unique and supportive therapeutic process. I also have training in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).

Many of us may become stuck at different stages in our lives for myriad reasons. Its possible you may or may not be aware of which events have led to becoming stuck which can then manifest in mental health and/or substance use difficulties. Examples may range from traumatic events such as abuse, neglect, death of loved ones, harmful family dynamics; oft under-emphasized circumstances such as daily stress, breakups, life changes/transitions, and loss of employment; or broader systemic issues such as racism, poverty, and other types of discrimination. If you are looking to identify the stuck parts to help all of you move forward, this is a good place to start.

I hold licenses as a Professional Counselor and a Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor and will work with you to create a compassionate and supportive environment to explore your parts that may need attention. I utilize psychodynamic and trauma-focused methods such as EMDR therapy, internal family systems (IFS), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness.

It is often said that people will not change until the pain becomes great enough. This does not have to be true, and we can work to connect with hope and harmony in your life to become unstuck and reduce your suffering. Reaching out for support may be difficult, and challenging, yet it can be rewarding and lead to growth. I look forward to connecting with you.

Every story is unique. My job in session is to listen well and frame a space that invites you to speak freely. I treat Individuals, teens, families and children in crisis using the telehealth medium. Connecting with angry, withdrawn, or difficult to reach children and teens is a specialty. If you’re worried about your little one, your teen is in trouble, or you notice that “family feeling” of togetherness, mutual support, and thriving is missing, we can tailor a successful approach for the specific situation your child or family faces.

My area of expertise is in helping people who grapple with overwhelming emotions, dissociative defenses, painful experiences, or self-destructive patterns to get to a place that’s more livable. I work exclusively through telehealth. Integrating the tools of old school psychotherapy with affective neurobiology, relational theories of change, and a horizontal treatment approach, I can help you get to the root of the problem as we work in the moment towards equilibrium and a sense of connectedness to yourself and others.

When we facilitate a safe and comfortable space to speak, saying whatever comes to mind, the keys to resolving your difficulties emerge, and we work with these keys to make life more livable. This is the essence of the process, and teletherapy makes it available wherever you are.

Working with adults as individuals and in the framework of relationships (often called couples therapy), I offer a place to share, discover, and expand your capacities. What you bring to therapy is important, personal, and deserving of attention.

As a psychodynamically oriented therapist I’ll invite you to be thoughtful about the impact of experiences on your self-understanding and relationship habits. While each of us is greater than the amalgam of our experiences, exploring the effect of childhood, family, education, friendships, diagnoses, etc. brings self-knowledge. We may not need or be able to change much of who we are but without self-knowledge we’re less likely to know precisely what we can change.

I often help people through transitions, such as navigating grief and loss, adjusting to illness, and addressing changes in motivation and focus. I appreciate working with people within the context of their relationships because therapy can help us recognize the impact we’re having on one another, a critical part of renewing lost or dampened connections and promoting new ways of relating. I have extensive experience supporting people who are tackling addiction and recovery, either for themselves or within their families and communities. Frequently compulsive behavior, or addiction, begins as a way of surviving something that feels unbearable, but over time the behavior can hinder our ability to relate to ourselves and others, and therapy can be a place to build resilience and rediscover the self.

People come to therapy for so many reasons - perhaps it’s a feeling of overwhelm, a desire to build connection and closeness with yourself and others, or just a hunch that something is off. Whatever your reason may be, now is a great time to begin.

My training is rooted in relational and psychodynamic frameworks, queer theory, harm reduction, and transformative justice. These tools are puzzle pieces of how I make meaning both in the world and in sessions with clients. My therapeutic style is warm and grounded, deeply curious, and collaborative. I attend carefully to pacing, and will prioritize your autonomy throughout the therapeutic process. Importantly, our work will center on what is important to you. I am very much myself in sessions which means that we laugh when things are funny and I will thoughtfully share interpretations and reflections with you.

When working with relationships, I draw on my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to support you in exploring how early life experiences shape how care and love are communicated and received. Through nurturing an understanding of past relational experiences, I will support you in turning towards processes that unfold in the therapy room to build capacity for clearer communication of feelings.

Many people I work with are navigating life experiences that include:

  • Gender and identity exploration
  • Supporting loved ones who are queer and/or trans
  • Experiences of trauma (sexual, religious, childhood)
  • Relationship challenges (desire discrepancies, shifts in relationship structure, sex and intimacy)
  • Grief and loss
  • Sport performance/college athletes
  • Navigating polyamory/non-monogamy

Finding a therapist who is a good fit is hugely important. I offer a free consultation for us to explore if we are a good fit to work together.

I emphasize attuning to the mind-body connection, habituating to feelings of vulnerability and integrating disparate parts of the psyche to guide clients towards living more conscious and intentional lives. I believe that the most effective way to heal old wounds and develop new strengths is through the dynamic that plays out in the therapeutic relationship, which has the power to become a vehicle for deep insight and transformation.

My practice is informed by psychodynamic theory, which means I understand the role of early life experiences and relationships on the patterns we form later. Our unique histories compound to create the fabric of our character structure. In some ways these structures may advance us through life and in other ways may hold us back.

I work with adolescents through adulthood with individuals who have a history of trauma, who may be facing major life transitions, struggling with anxiety and depression. I welcome couples into my space who may be dealing with relationship discord or who want to explore their full potential. I experienced working with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. I practice Exposure and Response Prevention (E/RP) for OCD and take expert care in helping my clients face and overcome what they fear most.

I hold a B.A. in Written Arts from Bard College, a B.A. in Applied Psychology from the City University of New York, and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. I have additional training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

A loving, self-aware, and compassionate relationship with yourself is a sturdy foundation from which to experience the world. Sometimes we struggle to develop self compassion, or our kind connection with ourselves becomes dampened. I offer support to individuals, children ten years and older, couples and families who are looking for support in connecting with themselves and others.

I strive to create a trusting and non-judgmental therapeutic space for safe exploration, learning, and growth. My trauma-informed lens helps me attune to and connect with my client’s intricacy and in addition to what is traditionally called talk therapy, I work with experiential modalities that engage clients in creative, mindful, and somatic ways so that clients can access innate insight and wisdom in ways that bypass just talking. I can offer lifelong skills and perspectives to help ease the challenges that come with acceptance and change.

I help adults, children and families work on relational and sense of self issues and enjoy helping people navigate and grow from change. I have experience supporting those with anxiety, depression and other mood disorders. I have been a professional certified life coach for many years and am trained to provide Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy services.
